Our Story History
GOODWILL OF ORANGE COUNTY

The Our Story History image reads: People are more powerful than the barrier they face.

A Handup, Not A Handout

Founded by Rev. Edgar James Helms in Boston in 1902, Goodwill's heritage of good works has endured for over a century. Goodwill of Orange County began helping people to help themselves in 1924. Led by Rev. John Winterbourne, Goodwill of Orange County began operations in Santa Ana. In 1932, Goodwill of Orange County was incorporated as an independent organization.

Goodwill's mission has grown to an international movement, improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
