ATEC stands for Assistive Technology Exchange Center—a resource for any item of equipment or technology used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities for individuals at home, school, or work. But in human terms, it’s the voice for a little girl who’s never been able to speak. It’s the hands for a man who has lost his ability to write. It’s hope. It’s empowerment. And it’s central to our mission of helping individuals lead more fulfilling lives. We are the largest and most comprehensive provider of the latest assistive technology. ATEC services can be provided in the home, school, or work environment or here in our 7,000 square-foot ATEC facility in Santa Ana. Our professional staff includes two Speech-Language Pathologists and Technology Specialists, as well as a Rehabilitation Engineer and Occupational Therapist. They have at their disposal over 1,000 technology devices with state-of-the-art hardware and software all maintained by ATEC. WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY? If you know or work with someone who has a disability, we urge you to refer them to ATEC for assessment and a tailored recommendation that identifies the appropriate assistive technology, training, and support that can meet their needs. This assessment, upon request, can include vendor information and quotes regarding any equipment that has been recommended. ATEC is vendored by the Department of Rehabilitation, Regional Center of Orange County. We also accept Medi-Cal Insurance as well as private pay. Assistive technologies can benefit individuals with spinal cord or brain injury, hearing impairment, developmental disability, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, visual impairment, Laryngectomy, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Repetitive Stress Syndrome, and many other disabilities.
