Every day at job sites throughout the community, over 160 workers with developmental disabilities receive job training and employment services through two community-based programs: MCO (Multi Cultural Options) and Project SCOP (Successful Community Opportunity Program). People with developmental disabilities learn necessary skills to lead lives as independently as possible and to increase their ability to make life choices, such as money management, street safety, transportation access, and communication skills. They also receive job training and job placement services through these integrated community-based programs. The programs are offered five days a week for six hours per day. Staff-to-client ratio is one staff member to four clients. Current job placements include food services, janitorial, housekeeping, clerical, grounds maintenance, and retail sales. Integrated work placement is done in small groups of four. Volunteer work may also be done by some clients at locations that qualify as nonprofit organizations.
