Goodwill of Orange County Announces Death of Long-time Employee Asif Syed
Asif Syed
Goodwill of Orange County is saddened to report that Asif Syed, the Landmark Services Director who oversaw the organization’s document destruction, custodial and ground maintenance services, recently passed away. His death was sudden and unexpected.
A respected friend and colleague, Mr. Syed, who was employed with the organization since August 1999, was passionate about providing services to assist individuals with disabilities to obtain productive and valuable training and employment skills. Mr. Syed was responsible for the financial stability and growth of the program and maintained the federal and commercial contract services operation under the Ability One Program for Goodwill of Orange County/Landmark Services Inc.
Mr. Syed was an experienced, recognized and successful business manager with expertise in sales, marketing, international business, budgeting, finance, personnel management and training, vendor relations, accounting and tax law. He was a recipient of numerous awards of excellence. He served on the Workforce Investment Board, the Secured Document Alliance (SDA), an organization formed by non-profit organization members from around the country to secure large, commercial contracts for document destruction. He was also a board member of the Islamic Society of Orange County and Co Founder of Urdu Writers Society of California. Mr. Syed earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from Pacific States University, Los Angeles.
The entire staff, program participants and volunteers of Goodwill of Orange County extend their deepest sympathy to Mr. Syed’s family. Letters of condolence may be forwarded to Nancy Quarles, Vice President of Human Services at Goodwill’s campus at 410 N Fairview in Santa Ana, CA 92703.
