## Goodwill of Orange County ##
Goodwill Honors Community Partners
On April 20, 2010 Goodwill of Orange County honored 27 individuals, who helped Goodwill of Orange County extend its reach in the community. The honorees consisted of local business leaders, advocates and business partners that all share a passion for Goodwill’s cause for personal and economic independence. “Because of the incredible support of these amazing individuals, in 2009 we were able to have a much greater impact on individuals with disabilities and other barriers who gained greater independence. It is their generous support and willingness to connect Goodwill that is truly immeasurable,” said Dan Rogers, president and CEO Goodwill of Orange County.
The event was sponsored by and held at First American Trust where Goodwill board member Kenneth Peterson, Vice President, Business Development Officer for First American Trust, welcomed guests. For several years, First American Corporation has employed Goodwill-trained workers and has utilized the organization’s document destruction services
Rex Hudler, former Angels’ baseball analyst on FOX Sports Net and KCOP and a veteran of 32 years in professional baseball, spoke to the guests about Goodwill’s power of work. He also shared his family’s personal triumphs in raising a son with Down Syndrome. He praised the group of engaged leaders and said, “We act as a catalyst for community change, social action and humanity by hiring Goodwill-trained workers and for supporting the many business programs that provide employment opportunities for underserved adults.”

Goodwill of Orange County operates 20 retail stores including the online auction site shopgoodwill.com as well as a variety of critical business services. The organization has provided thousands of people with disabilities and other barriers the opportunity to achieve the highest levels of personal and economic independence though competitive employment. Nine-one cents of every dollar spent is reinvested back into services, earning Goodwill of Orange County a four-star rating from Charity Navigator for organizational efficiency and capacity.
