Goodwill of Orange County Receives $15,000
Grant from CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust Grant money will support children with
disabilities become more independent at home and school. Goodwill of Orange County announced today that it received a $15,000 grant from the CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust, the private foundation managed by CVS Corporation. Goodwill's Assistive Technology Exchange Center (ATEC) provides any item of equipment or technology used to increase, maintain or improve functional capabilities for individuals with disabilities. This grant will help support operating costs to provide children in Orange County with the assistive technology and training they need in their school. Services such as assistive technology assessment, training and support will be provided to children with disabilities and other barriers to meet their needs, to get the education they deserve. "Goodwill of Orange County is proud to partner with CVS to help children with disabilities become more independent at home and school," said Dan Rogers, president and CEO of Goodwill of Orange County. "With CVS's support, ATEC will help give a voice to a little girl who's never been able to speak and the hands to a young boy robbed of his ability to write." The CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust's grant to Goodwill of Orange County is part of its more than $5 million in grants to non-profit organizations across 22 states. Organizations that were selected to receive a grant were chosen through the CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust's 2006 grant application process. Grants were awarded to organizations involved in children's health and education issues, with a particular focus on initiatives to improve the lives of children with disabilities and programs that promote awareness and inclusion of children with disabilities. "CVS strongly believes in giving back to the communities where
we live and work," said Eileen Howard Dunn, Vice President of
the CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust. "Grants from the CVS/pharmacy
Charitable Trust are an effective way for us to support the extraordinary
work done by community organizations to help children with disabilities
and their families and to promote health, wellness and education. We
are proud to support the work that Goodwill of Orange County does in
the community to help people with disabilities the opportunity to achieve
their highest levels of personal and economic independence."
