GOODWILL OF ORANGE COUNTY BENEFITS FROM COMMUNITY'S SUPPORT

Santa Ana, CA -- Throughout the first six months of 2007, Goodwill of Orange County has received grants from various community supporters, totaling $72,000. These grants will fund mission related services for people with disabilities and other barriers.

"At Goodwill, we assist individuals with their work and social skills, their cultural and language differences, and aid their access to a community that will allow them to enter the workplace and enhance their self-respect and dignity. I would like to thank each contributor for their support," said Dan Rogers, president and CEO of Goodwill of Orange County.

  • Leatherby Family Foundation- A $10,000 grant to support Positive Behavior Alternatives, a program designed to meet the special needs of clients that exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • Change a Life Foundation- A $7,500 grant to support the Assistive Technology Exchange Center (ATEC), which provides equipment or technology to increase, maintain or improve functional capabilities for individuals with disabilities.
  • The Ueberroth Family Foundation- A $15,000 grant to support ATEC's Children Services, providing assistive technology to help them in their home, at school and in the community.
  • Sertoma International/ Sertoma, Orange Empire- A $4,500 grant to help fund the Job Placement Program for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Lon V Smith Foundation- A $20,000 grant to support Goodwill's Education, Training and Employment Services for people with disabilities or other barriers.
  • The Karl Kirchgessner Foundation- A $10,000 grant to support Assistive Technology Exchange Center (ATEC), which provides equipment or technology to increase, maintain or improve functional capabilities for individuals with disabilities.
  • Team Up For Down Syndrome- A $5,000 grant to support Goodwill's Supported Employment Program.
  • Ford Motor Company - $3,000 grant to fund the purchase of personal grooming kits for Goodwill's Job Placement program

Goodwill of Orange County is a nonprofit organization with is Main Campus located at 410 North Fairview in Santa Ana. Now in its 83rd year, Goodwill of Orange County has provided thousands of people with disabilities and other barriers the opportunity to achieve their highest levels of personal and economic independence through competitive employment.
