Goodwill Week May 4-10: Report to the Community

[April 28, 2008, SANTA ANA] – Goodwill is putting people to work across Orange County by selling gently used clothing, household goods and computers to fund job training programs. Donations to Goodwill help people with disabilities or other barriers to economic independence. At Goodwill of Orange County, the organization funnels 90 cents of every dollar spent goes directly into job training and other career services.

The mission of Goodwill of Orange County is to provide training, placement, and the tools to achieve individual success to people with disabilities and other barriers. To help support this mission, Goodwill also offers an array of critical business solutions including e-waste solutions, document destruction, packaging and assembly as well as custodial services. In addition, shopgoodwill.com was created and is operated by Goodwill of Orange County. Participating Goodwill's from across the country offer for auction on the site a wide array of art, antiques and collectibles as well as new and nearly new items pulled from their vast inventories of donated goods.

At this time the organization employs over 840 people through Goodwill in Orange County. Of that 570 work in Operations/Sales/Retail division in collections, processing sales and in their 20 retail stores. Over 208 people are employed through human services programs and 65 are employed in Administration.

Goodwill of Orange County is a nonprofit organization with its Main Campus located at 410 North Fairview in Santa Ana. Now in its 84th year, Goodwill of Orange County has provided thousands of people with disabilities and other barriers the opportunity to achieve their highest levels of personal and economic independence through competitive employment.
