At a young age, Edward faced challenges that could have defined the rest of his life—drug use and gang violence. He describes that time as “dark,” a period where hope felt out of reach. But everything changed when he found a second chance through Goodwill of Orange County’s LifeLaunch Grow Program.
This program is more than training—it’s a lifeline. Designed for justice-impacted young adults ages 18–24, it helps those who have been involved in the justice system or are at risk of going down that path to rewrite their story and start a new chapter.
What the LifeLaunch Grow Program Offers:

- Job Search and Placement Services
- Paid Work Experience
- Conflict Resolution and Leadership Training
- Support Services including housing, transportation, clothing, and legal assistance
Edward’s case manager, Alvaro, explains: “We listen to their dreams and goals and create a plan for them.”
For Edward, that plan led to a full-time job at a Goodwill OC store as an ADC team member. With this opportunity, his life began to transform.
“When I learned the job was full time, it was a dream come true! It’s something I needed to do a long time ago, and I’m glad I’m doing it now. I’m working, saving money—it’s an amazing feeling to stay busy and productive. This company is great and has given me so many opportunities.”
Alvaro reflects on Edward’s growth: “When he first started, he was introverted and kept to himself. Now, he’s a whole different person—outgoing, interacting with everyone, and great to work with. That shows the power of someone determined to better their situation.”
The LifeLaunch Grow team doesn’t just help participants find jobs—they help them dream bigger. “He has worked so hard for what he has now. The possibilities are endless. I continue to push him to think about his next steps.”
