In this Job Match Q&A session, we had the honor to chat with Adrian who partnered with Goodwill of Orange County’s Employment WORKS program and landed a volunteer opportunity at the El Toro Library.
1) What is your first name, where do you work, and what is your job title?
My name is Adrian. I volunteer at the El Toro Library as a Library Volunteer.
2) What was your biggest barrier to getting back to work?
I haven’t worked for a supervisor in many years, so I was a little nervous.
3) How did Goodwill Employment WORKS help you get into working and maintain your position?
Daniela met me many times to look at volunteer leads and drove me to interviews. She also gave me trainings.
4) What is it like being a Library Volunteer?
It’s pretty easy. I shelve books. Everyone is very nice there.
5) How is working improving your quality of life today?
Volunteering at the library gives me a chance to take a break and also keeps me busy along with my classes at the Wellness Center.
6) What is your final message to anyone contemplating getting back to work?
You should definitely do it! I think it will improve your life.
The Employment WORKS program supports individuals like Adrian and connects them with meaningful opportunity.
