The Goodwill of Orange County Supported Employment team recently traded the office for the ocean as they headed to Bolsa Chica State Beach for their annual beach cleanup. Since 2016, Goodwill OC Team Members have gone to the beach armed with gloves, trash bags, and plenty of team spirit. They set out with a shared mission: helping protect our environment and preserve the beauty of Orange County’s coastline.
This annual tradition is more than just a cleanup. It’s an opportunity for team members to come together, connect with nature, and make a meaningful impact in the community. By removing litter from the beach, they’re helping protect local wildlife, keep our shores safe and clean, and contribute to a healthier planet for everyone to enjoy.
Each year, Jodean Hudson, Director of Workforce and Advanced Placement, partners with Bolsa Chica State Beach staff to organize the event. This year, the team collected an impressive 71 pounds of trash, including discarded coolers, rugs, and other debris that could have otherwise ended up harming the environment.
Along the way, several beachgoers stopped to thank the team for their efforts. Those moments served as a powerful reminder that small actions can create big waves of change, especially when people come together for a common cause.
The annual beach cleanup continues to be a favorite Goodwill OC tradition, bringing the Supported Employment team together while making a positive impact on our community and environment. A huge shout-out to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s cleanup a success. Thanks to their hard work, Orange County’s beaches are a little cleaner, greener, and brighter for all.
