The Beauty of Your Donations
Goodwill OC encourages the Orange County community to donate their gently used items, helping to reduce waste that could otherwise end up in the trash. Your outgrown shoes, outdated houseware items, and even your old laptop can find a new home!
These donations are resold in Goodwill OC stores, providing the fuel needed to empower individuals to start meaningful careers right here in O.C.. Plus, donating is a great way to declutter your home and feel good about giving back to the community! It’s a win-win for everyone.
Goodwill OC contributes significantly to the County’s sustainability efforts by collecting, sharing, reusing, recycling, prolonging, maintaining, and redistributing goods. This gives clothes and other products a second chance to reach their highest potential—a key principle of the circular economy!
Here is Goodwill OC’s Five-Step Donation Model:
- It all starts with a donation at one of our 25+ Donation Centers.
- Then it’s on to sorting – we do this both In-store and at our centralized Distribution Center.
- Next, it’s time for resale. Your generous donations are sold in one of our thrift stores across the county or online at ShopGoodwill.com.
- After-Market Resale comes next. This is where secondhand items are sold in our outlet location, The Marketplace, in bulk via auction and by-the-pound.
- What’s left gets recycled. With a host of well-vetted recycling partners, any items that are not sellable are repurposed to do even more good across.
