SANTA ANA, Calif. โ July 26, 2018โ Charity Navigator, Americaโs largest independent charity evaluator, released its latest ratings for the countryโs leading nonprofits this month and Goodwill of Orange County has earned a four-star rating, the highest possible ranking, for its sound fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability and transparency. This is the sixth consecutive year and 14thtime Goodwill of Orange County has earned the distinction since 2002.
โItโs more important than ever that our supporters know that weโre using our funding wisely to accomplish our mission of helping people with disabilities and other barriers to work find meaningful employment, purpose and independence,โ said Dick Trueblood, Chairman of the Board, Goodwill of Orange County. โOur four-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates that we take our commitment to the community, and fiduciary and governance responsibilities very seriously.โ
Since 2002, using objective, data-driven analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a four-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness, to its ratings methodology. These โAccountability & Transparencyโ metrics, which account for 50 percent of a charityโs overall rating, reveal which charities have โbest practicesโ that minimize the chance of unethical activities and whether they freely share basic information about their organization with their donors and other stakeholders.
